Homosexuality is widely accepted in the UK and the Gay and Lesbian scene has been thriving in resent years. It now apparent in all major cities and large towns, with London, Brighton, Blackpool and Manchester still being the big players. Licensing laws are being relaxed and we have seen longer opening hours in many venues across the country. Laws with regards to smocking in public places changed in 2007 and smoking is no longer permitted in any public building across the UK

The age of consent in the UK is 16 for both homosexuals and heterosexuals (17 in Northern Ireland) and in recent times the "Gay Civil Partnership Act" has been passed in parliament allowing same sex couples to legally register their partnership, allowing us enjoy many privileges that till now have been exclusive to heterosexual couples.
